Day 8, Galeries Lafayette shopping and home

Our airport pick up time was at 2:15 to allow an hour for travel and the three hour required check in time, so unfortunately, not much time for much else. We had wanted to go the catacombs today but it was not to be. So after a late sleep in and breakfast, we walked over, in the misty remnants of rain ( the only time on the whole trip!) to the Galeries Lafayette in hopes of doing some final shopping.

We bought assorted Greek food for lunch, as well as some incredible eclairs, then found our way to H&M.

Stella had fun trying on quite a few things and bought a dress and a top as well as a beautiful hair clip. Wendy even found a pair of pants. Prices were reasonable, and we were able to say that we got some Parisian clothes. Of course, the irony is hilarious!

We were very worried about the strict weight requirements of Air France, and sure enough, the attendant made us check our carry-on bags. Luckily, no extra charges. Although this plane was the exact model of our flight over on Virgin Atlantic, Air France fit it one more seat in each row. They were uncomfortable, tight, and impossible to move in once the person in front of you moved their seat back. Food was terrible too— something to remember for the future.

We also had to wait an extra hour and a half after we landed in Boston for gate access, the only real travel problems we had the whole trip. Josh met us and brought us to our airport hotel where we enjoyed a drink together and a quick but lovely visit before he took Stella home. No problems with our flight home the next morning, we arrived in Sarasota at about 3:30, happy to be home despite very very hot Florida weather 🥵.
