Day 7: Relaxing at Jasper National Park
Photography class
Walking around Lake Beaufort ( fire damage)
Pool afternoon
Finally! A free day in the Jasper Lodge. After a leisurely breakfast, we met the owner of a local photography business who give us a lesson in iPhone photo tips. We knew more than most, but it’s always nice to pick up a few more tips. Plus, it gave us a chance to practice camera techniques and composition when Jim and I went for a nice walk around the lake a half hour later.
We were constantly taking pictures, between practicing those above techniques and taking so many pictures of the devastating fire damage, we took more than two hours to walk the circular two mile hike around Lake Beaufort.
The last part is called “ the Peninsula”(similar to Florida :)). We walked up the west coast, then turned to follow the east coast back to our cabin.
We loved the signs along the way. From tree knowledge, to pointing out other information, they were always interesting.
After a break to catch up on our blog, we walked over to the outside pool and indoor sauna and wonderful steam room for some r and r. It helped Wendy’s cold a whole lot!
Before dinner, we attended a wine and cheese reception at the Mountain Galleries, one of the finer art shops at the lodge. Beautiful art, but of course, expensive. Luckily, we didn’t fall in love with anything.
Dinner was nice, but as with all these dinners, was very filling and very long. But it ended a lovely relaxing day.
